The New York Brown Swiss Association
The New York Brown Swiss Association was established by eight Brown Swiss breeders in 1949 to form an alliance with which to assist its members in promoting the sale and demand for Brown Swiss cattle through advertising, promotional work with dairymen, dairy organizations, dealers and others, and as a resource to improve breed standards.
It has grown to about 150 members in 2010, with the potential for double this size or more. 48% of members are Regular adult members or couples; 45% are Junior members, anyone 20 and under; and 7% are Associate members, those who were breeders in the past or have an interest in supporting the breed or organization. The NYBSA is made up of 6 Cantons, each of which represents a group of counties. Besides state level activities, Cantons each host shows and other activities.
