to start making your plans for this year’s new NYBSA Capital District Canton Brown
Swiss show. Any
The NYBSA
CDC Show will be held in conjunction with the Tri-County Holstein Show (Black
& White Show), Monday through Wednesday, July 28-30, at the Schaghticoke Fairgrounds.
Ø
Junior
Showmanship for both Brown Swiss and Holstein Youth will take place Tuesday at
11:00AM.
Ø
The
Junior/Open Brown Swiss Show will start at 2:00PM on Tuesday.
Ø
Tuesday
evening is a Holstein Club sponsored Chicken BBQ that you are welcome to
attend, and the Tri-County Holstein Show will be held 9AM-3PM Wednesday.
Ø
The
fairgrounds will be open for cattle to arrive on Monday, the28th. Animals MUST
arrive at the fairgrounds by 9:00 AM Tuesday morning and be checked in before
the shows begin.
Ø
Brown
Swiss may leave the fairgrounds following the Brown Swiss show Tuesday although
exhibitors are invited to stay.
We’re
asking for all entries with money to be sent to Edward Telford, postmarked by
July 14th. All entries not postmarked by July 14th will
be assessed a $30 late entry fee. Please fill out the entry form completely and
neatly. Please do your part to make the book accurate with complete and correct
information. Please make checks payable to the “NYBSA Capital District Canton.”
All animals
must have registration papers and health certificates available. They will be
reviewed at check in Tuesday and must also be available for the show on Tuesday
if needed. Scratches must be reported Tuesday morning at check-in. Recently
purchased animals must be transferred 30 days prior to the show. Junior member animals
must be transferred by June 1, 2008. Papers may be called for at the discretion
of the Show Management. Order of the show will follow the book. The judge for
this year for all three shows will be Gus Swartzbeck of
Health
papers must accompany your animals. Rabies and shipping fever shots/booster are
required. If you have questions, refer to your veterinarian.
For the
NYBSA Capital District
Rabies need to be given within a year and up to 14 days before the show. It cannot
be given to animals less than 90 days old.

and/or BRDC booster by July 15, 2008.

First
BRDC shot (if a booster will be needed) by July 1, 2008.

BRDC
booster must be given after May 9, 2008
Ø
NEW! All cows, heifers and calves must be tested BVD Neg PI, and
documented on Health Certificate. Results take a couple weeks to get. Test
early.
There is a
$10 per entry charge to offset expenses. This fee must accompany your entry
form and is non-refundable. You do not pay for group classes. A photocopy of registration papers is
needed for juniors. Please
include with your entries. Again, a reminder, please fill out and mail all
entries postmarked by July 13th to: Edward Telford,
IMPORTANT!
There will be no milking parlor available at the fairgrounds. NO milk will be
dumped on the grounds. All milk will be collected in a tank provided.
Pictures
can be taken on the day of the show by Billy Heath. There will be a per animal fee
of $40 payable that day to the Tri-County Club to cover the cost of the
photographer’s crew plus the picture fee. In addition to show animals, animals
not in the show may be brought to the fairgrounds for pictures as long as the
proper health work has been completed and checked.
Exhibitor
harnesses must be worn for the show. A limited number of harnesses will be
available for purchase at the show. Number cards will be provided Tuesday
morning before the Junior Showmanship show begins. Numbers must be worn in the
ring.
The Premier
Breeder and Exhibitor Awards will be awarded based on the top 6 animals from
each farm. (In the case of a tie, the 7th will be included ). Points
will be awarded based on the first 10 animals in each class. (20, 18, 16, 14,
12, 10, 8, 6, 4, & 2 for cow classes and 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1
for calf and heifer classes). Joint
ownership animals must be properly entered or the points will be forfeited. All
points will be split evenly between joint owners and cannot be transferred. Dry
cows will be awarded heifer points.
Reminder –
Juniors and Seniors will show together in each class. The judge will place the
entire class. Juniors will step forward to be recognized for the NYBSA CDC
Brown Swiss Youth Show. Then the Seniors will step forward and rejoin the
original placing, when the judge will address the entire class.
No trailers
will be parked between or next to the barns and the show ring until the show is
over.
Food
concession will be available on the grounds Tuesday and Wednesday.
No bedding
will be provided by the fairgrounds. You must provide your own.
